Managing Brands

Adding a brand

Create a new brand from the Brands list. The creation wizard has four steps:

  1. Brand identity — Enter the brand name and website. The domain is validated for DNS resolution and reachability. If it redirects, the system detects this and updates the domain automatically. The website is fetched once by AchtungBot/1.0 so the system can derive the niche — see achtung.app/bot.
  2. Local visibility — Optionally toggle local-business mode and set a location, travel mode, and service-area radius.
  3. Business profile — Review the auto-detected niche and language (edit if needed), then submit.
  4. Google Search Console — Optionally connect GSC for richer keyword data.

After creation, keyword suggestions are generated automatically in the background. You can review and adjust keywords at any time from the brand page.

Plan limits

Each plan has a brand limit:

Plan Active brands Monthly creation cap
Lite 1 3
Starter 1 3
Pro 5 10
Enterprise Unlimited Unlimited

When you reach your plan's limit, the Create button is hidden. A monthly cap on new brand creation applies independently of how many brands are active.

Pro subscribers can add extra brand slots without upgrading to Enterprise: Add brand slot in the Brands list (or on the dashboard usage card) raises your brand limit and is billed prorated to the card on file. Existing brands keep running even if you later remove a slot.

Initial scan progress

After brand creation, the dashboard shows a progress widget tracking the onboarding pipeline:

State Meaning
Awaiting GSC Brand was created with GSC enabled — connect it, or click Skip to start scanning right away
Preparing Keywords are being generated automatically
Running AI visibility queries are in progress — a live progress bar shows completion
No Keywords Auto-generation found no results — add keywords manually
Failed Preparation hit a permanent error, usually a temporary AI provider outage — use Start the scan again
Done Scan complete — scores will appear shortly

Brand actions

Open a brand from the Brands list to access these actions:

Action What it does
Detect Niche Analyzes the brand's website to identify its business niche
Suggest Keywords Generates AI-powered keyword suggestions and adds them as active keywords right away
Collect News Triggers an immediate news and social-media run
View as Brand Opens the brand portal as this brand so you can preview exactly what they see (Pro and above)
Create Brand Login Creates a portal login for the brand and sends them an invitation email (Pro and above)
Generate Report Generates an on-demand PDF report for a chosen month
Generate Insights Immediately regenerates AI strategic insight cards for this brand
Edit Edit the brand's profile fields

Subscriber-triggered actions have per-plan cooldowns to manage costs — Lite and Starter are the most conservative, Enterprise the most generous. Cooldowns are per-user per-brand, so a user with several brands can trigger each action independently per brand.

Keywords

Keywords are the queries sent to AI providers to check whether the brand is mentioned. The quality of your keyword set directly affects the quality of visibility data.

Keyword types

Each keyword is automatically classified:

Type What it is
Question A conversational query like "who is the best…" or "how do I…"
Comparison A "vs" or "compare" query that prompts AI to make recommendations
Short-tail A shorter, SEO-style phrase — tracked but lower priority for AI visibility

Question and Comparison keywords produce the richest AI responses and the most useful citation data.

Google Search Console import

When a brand has Google Search Console connected, real queries from their account are imported automatically. The import prioritizes question-form queries (up to 30 slots), then fills the remaining slots (up to 50 total) with the highest-impression non-question queries.

AI Overview Signals — queries with high impressions but very low click-through rates — are surfaced separately. These indicate an AI-generated answer is intercepting the search demand, making them high-priority targets for optimization.

Connecting web analytics

Connecting the brand's analytics adds the other half of the picture: not just where AI mentions the brand, but which AI assistants actually send visitors, and to which pages. Once connected, the AI traffic chart appears on the brand page and in the brand portal, and the figures flow into the PDF report and the AI insights.

Google Analytics is the self-service option. Open the brand, choose Connect Google Analytics, and approve read access in the Google consent screen — no API token, no copying IDs. Achtung.app then looks for the GA4 property whose web stream matches the brand's domain and selects it automatically; if it finds several or none, you pick from a list. Up to a year of history is loaded on the first run (or as far back as the property's data retention allows), then it updates daily.

Matomo is available for brands running their own instance; setup goes through Achtung.app support.

A brand uses one analytics source at a time. Google Analytics counts sessions and Matomo counts visits, so a chart spanning both would show a step change in traffic that never happened. Switching sources therefore clears the previously collected traffic data and starts the series fresh; keyword, citation, and visibility history are untouched.

If the connected property records no referral and no organic search traffic at all, you get a warning right away. That pattern almost always means the property only receives Google Ads data and the GA4 tag is not on the site itself, in which case AI traffic would stay at zero for reasons that have nothing to do with AI.

Clicks from Google AI Overviews and AI Mode arrive as ordinary google.com referrals and cannot be told apart from normal search clicks, so every AI-traffic figure is a floor, not a total. Google Analytics also keeps revising the last day or two as late data arrives.

Use Disconnect Google Analytics on the brand page to revoke access. Traffic already collected is kept; daily collection stops.

Suggesting keywords

Use Suggest Keywords on a brand page to generate AI-powered ideas based on the brand's niche and existing data. Suggestions are added as active keywords right away, so they feed the priority selection pool and weekly SERP tracking without further action — deactivate any that aren't relevant. Suggestions also run automatically every month. The total active pool is bounded at 5× your plan's keyword allowance; once it's full, new suggestions are skipped until you deactivate keywords.

Priority keywords

Up to your plan's keyword allowance is marked as priority for tracking by AI providers on every measurement run (Lite: 20, Starter: 20, Pro: 25 per brand). The rest are checked less frequently. Priority selection favors conversational, question-style phrases and keywords with strong search volume.

The monthly automatic run is top-up only: your current priority set stays as it is, and only vacant slots are filled — for example after you deactivate a keyword or upgrade your plan. This keeps your visibility trend comparable month over month. If you want the AI to rebuild the whole set from scratch, use Re-pick priority keywords on the brand page. It shows you the proposed set first — what stays, what comes in, what drops out — and writes nothing until you approve it. Note that a new set changes the measurement basis, so trend comparisons with previous months become less meaningful; the day you apply it is marked on the score trend chart.

Keywords whose priority you set by hand are pinned: automatic selection keeps your choice and only manages the remaining slots — even during a full re-pick. A keyword you removed from priority stays removed; one you added stays in.

Branded keywords

Keywords marked as Branded are tracked for citation purposes but excluded from SEO Visibility stats — ranking for your own brand name isn't a useful benchmark.

SERP rankings

Visibility → SERP Rankings shows the brand's current organic rank for each tracked keyword, captured weekly via Brave Search. The rank column on the Visibility tab uses the impression-weighted 28-day average Google position from Search Console when GSC is connected and the Brave rank otherwise; its label names the actual source (Google Rank or Brave Rank). This lets you compare traditional search visibility alongside AI visibility in one place.
