Every AI platform has its favorite sources

Search-grounded answers reveal not just whether a brand gets mentioned but which sources the model leans on. Aggregated across Achtung.app's own measurement series, three patterns hold up:

  • Gemini cites Reddit. Reddit appeared as a source in roughly 14 percent of 948 Gemini queries; the other providers cited it in none of over 2,000 queries.
  • Perplexity leans on YouTube. Roughly 45 percent of 948 Perplexity queries cited at least one video; for the remaining providers the share stayed below 3 percent of their queries.
  • ChatGPT is the only provider that answers local queries straight from Google Business profiles, including opening hours and ratings.

For brands this means there is no single platform you must be on. Industry directories, review platforms, Reddit threads, YouTube videos, and Google Business profiles carry different weight depending on the provider. A brand that only tends its own website covers none of these channels.
